Mother -- poetry by Gretchen Wang

“I don’t remember”

Is what You say about every

terrible Word

You’ve said to Me and every Terrible

thing You’ve Done to me

yet when you ask me

“do you love me” I cannot bring

my Self to say no

yet when You ask me “do you love me as much as I love you” I can surely say

No

because no daughter can love her Mother—

As much as a Mother loves her daughter.

Gretchen Wang is a senior at the International Bilingual School at Tainan Science Park in Taiwan. She enjoys spending her time on video games, books, and writing whatever comes to her mind. Her greatest sources of inspiration are human emotions and a cloudy grey sky.
